Enjoy a day in Fowey

Discover a stunning town with loads to do, a great cycling destination

Fowey is a beautiful town set right on the mouth of the river Fowey.

Popular with sailors and boat lover, the town has a busy vibrant feel to it and is packed with lovely restaurants and shops. It’s a hilly place so the electric bikes come in handy to get there and are good way to explore. Its worth taking a walk along the river as you’ll discover some beautiful spots including some great places to swim and relax.

Some of Paul’s family live in Fowey and he has fond memories of long lazy summers messing around on the river with his cousins. One of our favourite things to do, if we get an afternoon off in the summer, is head down to Fowey and give our old friend, the Boat Man a call. He sorts us out a lovely little boat and on the way to collecting it we always stop at Kittows for a picnic. They have beautiful pasties but also lots of Gluten Free options for me!

Our river trip normally consists of the kids taking turns steering the boat, fishing and eating. We explore the many inlets and beaches, have a look at all the beautiful boats moored up. Day dream about owning one of the stunning houses that line the river and mooring up the boat and nipping into a pub for a little refreshment. Definitely not the worst way to spend a few hours!

We’ve treated ourselves to a night at the Harbour Hotel in Fowey before and it has been wonderful. Great views, good food and lovely bug rooms with stunning views. A good option if you want to stop over for a night or two on your cycle tour of Cornwall.
